Four years have elapsed since the publication of Bologna Inside, one of the IWF’s most popular services. Of the 1000 guidebooks initially printed, only a few remain! It is time to print a second edition of Bologna Inside with updated content and brand new chapters so that the IWF can continue to offer this unique resource to the community.
The goal of the 2004-2005 board of directors is to lay the financial foundation for this project to be executed in 2005. The IWF is currently seeking funding in the amount of € 15.000, a sum which will cover the design and production costs of 1000 second edition guidebooks.
Do you work for an international company whose employees could benefit from Bologna Inside 2005? Do you have ideas of potential donors for the project?
Are you a skilled communicator in English or Italian? Do you have project management skills? Would you like to help with grant writing?
Bring your copy of Bologna Inside to the next IWF meeting so that we can share it with a new member! Start thinking about a personal vignette that you would like to contribute to Bologna Inside 2005.

In 2000, the IWF, in collaboration with Bologna-based talkaBOut magazine, published Bologna Inside, a guidebook to the city of Bologna. The original project was financed by the city of Bologna’s Comitato per Bologna 2000 and realized by Ann Gagliardi and tireless team of IWF volunteers.
The guidebook is unique in that it is aimed not at tourists, but rather at newcomers to Bologna who need help orienting themselves to the city’s resources, services, and bureaucratic procedures. Called “a lifeline” by one newcomer, the guidebook contains chapters on all aspects of getting settled in a new city including finding an apartment, sending children to school, medical care and job hunting. It also lends insight into some Italian customs and Bolognese dialect that help recent arrivals to better understand their new adopted culture. Personal vignettes and photographs from IWF members make the guidebook fun to read.
