We are proud to welcome Oria Gargano of BeFree cooperative who will be speaking to us about female sex trafficking in Italy and her work with BeFree in Rome that helps battered women.

Short bio Oria Gargano
Oria Gargano graduated in Political Science at the “Sapienza” University of Rome and specialized in Communication Sciences at the LUISS University, before she obtained her Master in “Gender Studies and Equal Opportunity Policies” in Bologna. She is currently President of BeFree Cooperativa Sociale against trafficking violence and discrimination, which she founded in 2007 together with other collaborators. Expert for Italy at the European Observatory of Violence Against Women Women Lobby (Brussels), she has been involved in supporting women victims of violence and trafficking for many years. She was the manager of anti-violence centers in the Rome area. She is a trainer on issues related to her academic activity. She is registered in the register of journalists of Lazio and Molise. She is the author of several books and essays on the subject of gender-based violence and human trafficking for the purpose of exploitation.
